CAR CAMPING IN STATE PARKS AND OTHER MUNICIPAL LANDS

Urbanization has increasingly removed access to nature for many people.  Because of this urbanization, state parks and other state lands have become increasingly popular places for car camping.

Camping Provides an Economic Boost to State and Local Economies

Car campers typically shop or dine locally, and this provides an economic boost to state and local communities where the state and other municipal parks are located.  Further, new businesses which cater to car campers and other outdoor enthusiasts seek locations near these parks.  Additionally, all the activity brings attention from other businesses which seek to locate in areas with easy to access recreation, nature, and open spaces.  Thus the increasing popularity of car camping in these places has helped create jobs, and that is a boost to state and local communities.

Campers Help Preserve Ecosystems

These parks support the conservation of ecosystems for future generations.  As more adults enjoy car camping, they discover these special places, and they bring their kids and grand kids.  Sharing these discoveries thus exposes more people to their unique wonders.  With greater exposure, more people come to love and appreciate all they offer.  Accordingly, these lands not only help us connect with nature, they preserve ecosystems which might otherwise be lost because no one cares to protect them.  Thus through exposure and experience, car camping helps preserve ecosystems.

Camping Supports Affordable Fun

Finally, car camping in state and other municipal parks is affordable.  Where fees are charged for use, such parks and sites provide annual pass as well as day pass options.  Fees are typically minimal and are used to support the park.  Camping fees for car camping are always separate charges.
