Ranging from alpine to desert, the diversity and beauty of Colorado makes it a top choice when we are choosing where to hike. With approximately one third of its land federally protected, Colorado boasts four national parks, eight national monuments, two national recreation areas, eleven national forests, two national grasslands, eight national wildlife refuges, three national conservation areas, forty-two national wilderness areas, and a large amount of BLM land. National historic trails, a national scenic trail, and more than thirty national recreation trails pass through or call Colorado home. As if this isn’t enough, Colorado also has forty-one state parks! With this much to explore, there is literally something for everyone here. Some of our favorite hiking locations are below.
