Meet them Here

John Muir said it best in 1889 when he wrote this about Mount Rainier:

“. . . the most luxuriant and the most extravagantly beautiful of all the alpine gardens I ever beheld in all my mountain-top wanderings.”

Frankly, we wholeheartedly agree that it is magnificent.  The meadows, streams, waterfalls, lakes, and glaciers we witnessed while hiking here stopped us in our tracks time after time.

Five Areas to Explore

This gorgeous mountain is huge, and the surrounding areas which spread out from its flanks offer up a lot of territory to explore.  Correspondingly, Mount Rainier National Park is divided into distinct areas.  For instance, in the south the park is divided into three sections – Longmire (southwest), Ohanapecosh (southeast), and Paradise (south).  Similarly, the north is divided into two sections – Sunrise (northeast), and Carbon/Mowich (northwest).  Each area is unique and wonderful, and the trails which wind through them provide fantastic access to all Mount Rainier has to offer.  Further, for hikers and backpackers who like to spend time wandering, they are divine.

Below are some of the outstanding opportunities for exploration which Mount Rainier has to offer.  Click on the pictures below to read the associated articles and learn about these awesome outventures.
